Eric Schansberg - The only fiscal conservative

All will accept DVD; one said they thought the quality would be lower than Beta or mini-DV, but all will accept it. And to your point, how can they NOT use DVD at this point?!

Anyway, I've pasted in my ideas for the ads below-- as per our discussion yesterday...

*Two things I forgot to mention: we'll need to have:*
-"Paid for by Schansberg for Congress; John Harbeson, Treasurer" in small print for at least a few seconds on the ad (as well as my voice, saying something like "I approve this message"); and -we should also work the website address into these somewhere

*Other things:*
-I don't think we talked about how we would record audio for the ad. Does that complicate things at all?
-About photos, can you download photos of me and them off the internet-- or other?

thanks! eric

*Audio*
The only fiscal conservative?
Baron Hill and Mike Sodrel?
Eric Schansberg?

Bring our troops home soon from Iraq?
Hill and Sodrel?
Schansberg?

Opposed to taking your money and giving it to Planned Parenthood and Energy Companies?
Hill and Sodrel?
Schansberg?

This is Eric Schansberg and I approve this message. The choice is as clear as black and white—an economics professor who wants our troops out of Iraq. Don't waste your vote this time; vote Schansberg for Congress on November 4 th.

You had also talked about using black/white photos of them and color photos or video of me.

*Audio #2: *

We need to restore fiscal sanity in Washington. Democrats *and* Republicans have given us massive spending and debt, devaluing the dollar by 40% and driving up the price of gas by more than a dollar a gallon.

A Fiscal Conservative?
Here are the grades from the National Taxpayers Union and Citizens Against Government Waste.
Baron Hill F
Mike Sodrel C
Eric Schansberg would earn an A

If you want a Fiscal Conservative, the choice is clear, so I approve this message.

Vote for an economics professor, Dr. Eric Schansberg for Congress, on November 4th.

Eric,

I believe that I have the sound effects that you asked for.
Bell: http://www.soundsnap.com/node/37556
Alarm: http://www.soundsnap.com/node/37070

Here is some music that I thought about using for the background, it can be quiet if you want. I like to use music for timing to keep a cadence and more importantly, to help cover up any background noises such as hiss from the recording or the sound of my computer fans getting into the recording.

Selected music

http://kmdownload.com/royalty-free/End%20of%20the%20Era.mp3

At this point, I am grabbing material for the ad. after I have everything in place, then I can begin putting everything together and produce the ad. Probably take 3 days at most if everything goes well. The best is probably to get everything done in a day. But I want you to listen to this audio that I got and I want your feedback so I can go to the next stage which is to put everything together. I think you will like the sound effects but I want to know which of these 3 musical pieces is the one you want to use. I got three songs that I want to choose one from, I have both sound effects to use in the ad, and I have a few pictures of You, Sodrel, and Hill to use in the ad. Perhaps I can 3D model a picture of a quiz paper with the questions on it.
But go here to select more music. http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free

Schansberg's response:

sound effects:
-The alarm is PERFECT/AWESOME-- I laughed out loud when I heard that (although only one time, not repeated). I'm going to blog on that one! HAHAHAHA!
-For bell, I'm looking for a higher-pitched "bing" instead of a "clang" (and again, a single sound instead of repetitive)

music: I like the first or second-- and if possible, trying to pick an excerpt that matches the mood: sober while talking about gas prices and problems, moving to nicer music when it gets to me and the finish...

------------------------------------------------------------

Progress, but still quite a few things to fix...
I think you're conflating the two ads...this is supposed to be the Fiscal Conservative and Iraq ad (the other is the AFC-- A Fiscal Conservative? ad). I can resend the text and description of graphics if you need...

for this one, we'll need... -Hill/Sodrel with Klaxon and me with ding (not the clang) twice-- once for Fiscal Conservative and once for Iraq
-Hill and Sodrel presented together, then nailed with klaxon and X's together.
-Hill, Sodrel and me popping up three times is too busy and too time consuming; just bring them up at one time and then X them, etc.

-I like the footage, but I'm not sure about using an (easily) identifiable place; perhaps Seymour's mayor would not approve? (I'll ask some people who know more about that stuff)
-at present, it has my voiceover from the other commercial
-we need it to be close to :30
-remember that we need to work in "Paid for by,,," in a small font...

THANKS! eric

*Approve 1 is for the first commercial. (Approve 3 is for the second commercial.)

This is Eric Schansberg and I approve this message. *I* won't take your money and give it to Planned Parenthood or energy companies. I'm an economics professor who wants our troops out of Iraq. Don't waste your vote this time; vote Schansberg for Congress in November.

Time: 8-9 seconds, 8-9 seconds, 12-14 seconds.
*Graphics (for first half)*
pictures of Hill and Sodrel (together)
pictures of Hill and Sodrel with Red X's covering them and a "buzzer" sound effect
picture of Schansberg
picture of Schansberg with a Green check mark and a "bing" sound effect
*Black/white photos of them and color photos--or video of me. (The existing video of me at Seymour is great. It's nice that it has the seal in the background and looks so official.) *

Better in some ways, but somehow I'm still not communicating what I'm looking for. I think you're far too artistic and creative for what I want!

All I want on these two commercials is basic graphics and voice-over-- except perhaps the last 12 seconds where you could easily use some video.

Let me try this way of describing it...
Frame 1 (2 seconds): voice-over: "The only fiscal conservative?" with graphic of that text or potential snapshot of a piggy bank or some symbol of fiscal things
Frame 2 (2 seconds): picture of Baron Hill and Mike Sodrel on half of the screen with your voice-over: "Baron Hill and Mike Sodrel?"
Frame 3 (1 second): red X's and klaxon over their mugs
Frame 4 (1 second): picture of me and your voice-over "Eric Schansberg?"
Frame 5 (2 seconds): green check and "bing" over my mug
Frame 6 (2 seconds): voice-over: "Bring our troops home soon from Iraq?" with graphic of that text or potential video of troops (like you have now)
Frame 7 (2 seconds): picture of Baron Hill and Mike Sodrel on half of the screen with voice over: Baron Hill and Mike Sodrel?
Frame 8 (1 seconds): red X's and klaxon
Frame 9 (2 seconds): picture of me and voice-over "Eric Schansberg?"
Frame 10 (1 second): green check and "bing"
Frame 11 (12 seconds): video of me in Seymour with references toward the end to the website (5 seconds?) and then adding in "Paid for by Schansberg for Congress; John Harbeson, Treasurer" (2 seconds?)-- and my voice-over: "This is Eric Schansberg and I approve this message. *I* won't take your money and give it to Planned Parenthood or energy companies. I'm an economics professor who wants our troops out of Iraq. Don't waste your vote this time; vote Schansberg for Congress in November."

I'm sorry that I underestimated how difficult it would be to convey what I'm looking for. Thanks for your patience! eric
